A little refresher try created by MotoGP. Starting next season, there are some new rules set to regulate the qualifying session mechanism that will be implemented starting next season.
According to the official MotoGP website, the new rules will be in active use from 1 January 2013. Grand Prix Commission had already given the green light for change.
Fundamental change is becoming important free practice session. Note the time the riders will determine their position on kualfikasi session.
Another change is the addition of sufficient importance 4 free practice session will be held ahead of the qualifying session. FP is quite crucial to determining who will be setting the bike down on qualifications.
Changes Mechanism Qualifications:
1. The three free practice sessions that have been used at this time will not change. However, a combination of sessions that will determine the participation of the qualifying session.
2. Ten fastest rider will go automatically to the Qualifying Practice 2 (QP2).
3. Other remaining rider-rider will participate in the Qualifying Practice 1 (QP1).
4. The two fastest riders will advance to the QP1 QP2. So a total of 12 riders who will be competing in QP2 to scramble positions 1 to 12 in the start.
5. The riders were not included in the two fastest QP1 will fill 13 positions back, according to the time that they made in QP1.

First Day
- Free Practice 1: 45 Minutes (Not Changed) Calculated for Participation in Qualifying Session
- Free Practice 2: 45 Minutes (Not Changed) Calculated for Participation in Qualifying Session
Day Two - Morning
- Free Practice 3: 45 Minutes (Not Changed) Calculated for Participation in Qualifying Session
Day Two - Afternoon - New Rules:
- Free Practice 4: 30 Minutes Not Calculated for participation in the Qualifying Session, 10 Minute Pause
- Qualifying Practice 1: 15 Minutes
- Pause 10 Minutes
- Qualifying Practice 2: 15 Minutes
